BKV is expanding its international network. In the Arab emirate Qatar too, healthcare is moving forward and BKV can contribute its expertise!
Titjana Brillenburg Wurth (commercial director) and Lieselotte Klop (managing consultant) visit various organisations in Qatar which want support in filling medical vacancies, among others. For example, are you a psychiatrist, addiction doctor or social psychiatric nurse? If so, you can find a new challenge in Qatar!
“On Saturday 15 March 2014, our four-day trip to Doha starts in Qatar. An exciting prospect: what will we experience in our new environment?!
The aim of our trip is to visit:
– Naufar, a wellness and healthcare institute under development
– Hamad Medical Corporation, a general hospital
– Sidra, a paediatric hospital.
Of course, we want to see something of the culture too. We plan to explore the capital city of Doha and talk to Dutch people living there. In short, a great programme!
The working week in Qatar starts on Sunday. At 10.30 a.m., we have a meeting with the recruitment manager and the director of nursing at Naufar. As part of our ‘getting to know the locals’ programme, we decide to take a regular taxi. Confidently we hand over the address and a card with the name of the building. After introducing ourselves and exchanging information, the taxi driver bursts into song and flirts shamelessly with us… Setting off towards our destination, he asks us where we are going and how to get there. As you can see, an interesting experience, but not to be repeated!
The Naufar organisation is currently being set up. BKV has been recommended, which is why we are providing recruitment support. The organisation will grow to 600 staff members. Wellness and healthcare are the services they will be offering, specifically aimed at addicts. The problem of addiction is still insufficiently recognised and the government of Qatar is playing a role by setting up this organisation.
For Naufar, we are looking for psychiatrists, social psychiatric nurses, addiction specialists and other clinicians and paramedics who are experienced in caring for addicts and who are willing to share their knowledge. This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone interested in pursuing their career in this part of the world! And particularly if you are familiar with the Arab language and culture.
After this successful meeting, we visit a ‘souk’ (Arab market) to experience the local atmosphere and The Museum of Islamic Art: amazing art! Our first impression of Qatar is fantastic. The people are incredibly hospitable! Friendly, helpful, courteous and warm. The Western and Arab world standing alongside each other. Both men and women are treated with mutual respect. And what beauty is hidden ‘behind’ these people. A wonderful experience!
